Missionary moments for the Ecuador Team

January 30, 2009

Dear FBC Dyer Mission Team:

I just wanted to pass along to you a word from the Bible to help us all prepare our hearts for our July mission trip to Quito. The trip is a few months away, yet it is right around the corner!

If there is one message that this trip can communicate to the wonderful people of Ecuador, it is Jude 2: "Mercy, Peace, and love be multiplied to you." That sums it up. That's why we are going...to bring the Gospel of Jesus Christ to a lost people so that they can become full participants in the Great Commission. As those new believers step out on faith, just like you are doing by going on this trip, they will see mercy, peace and love multiplied in and through their lives. That's joy. On this trip you will experience the joy of your salvation, which is the reckless abandonment of the self in the pursuit of serving other people in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

It is an honor to join you on this trip. I praise the Lord for you and for FBC Dyer. We felt a connection with your church the first time we worked with y'all a couple of years ago. I am looking forward to spending a week with you in our beloved Quito.

And, just think, right now there are Ecuadorians living in fear of death who, after you encounter them with the Gospel of Jesus Christ in July, will have their salvation sealed for all of eternity. Please pray for those lost souls today!

God Bless,

Phil Calvert
